Dr Raymond AM has practised as a forensic
scientist and science manager since 1978. He has considerable experience,
both from a laboratory and a field perspective and has given related expert evidence
in a number of jurisdictions. Dr Raymond was the Director of the Zimbabwe
Republic Police Forensic Laboratory (1981/82) prior to immigrating to
Australia. He is a past president of the Australian and New Zealand Forensic
Science Society and past Chairman and International Liaison Officer of the
Senior Managers of Australia and New Zealand Forensic Laboratories Network.
He has served as Chair of the National Association of Testing Authorities
Accreditation Advisory Committee. Dr Raymond has held the positions of
Director and Chief Scientist, Forensic Services Group of the New South Wales
Police Force (NSWPF) and Director, National Institute of Forensic Science. Dr Raymond has a number of presentations,
journal publications and book chapters to his credit. He has personally
successfully directed and managed a number of complex science and technology
projects. Dr Raymond is an adjunct professor at the University of Western
Sydney and an Honorary Fellow of the Australian College of Legal Medicine. He
has received both national and international awards for his innovative
forensic service. Dr Raymond was made a Member of the Order of Australia in
2010 ‘For service to forensic science in the field of law enforcement.” Dr Raymond’s fields of speciality include
crime scene investigation, bloodstain pattern analysis, DNA methodologies and
